About this part

The service kit to suit the Onga Pantera PPP750 pool pump has three CapacitorsNZ parts: a 3/4″ carbon / ceramic mechanical seal that replaces Onga 700270, a 20 µF (20 uF / 20 MFD) 450 VAC run capacitor with core leads, and a matched drive-end and fan-end bearing pair. It covers the main wearing parts of this single-phase pool pump in one job. Check your old seal and capacitor before fitting.

What’s in the Onga Pantera PPP750 service kit

Each part is also sold on its own through the links below, and the kit is priced below the three bought separately.

  • Mechanical seal: 3/4″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces Onga 700270 and Astral 75508.
  • Run capacitor: 20 µF, 450 VAC, CBB60 body with core leads.
  • Motor bearing set: a matched pair of sealed ball bearings for the drive end and fan end.

Why change the PPP750 seal, bearings and capacitor together

Changing a pool pump seal means separating the motor from the wet end and taking the impeller off. With the motor already out on the bench, the bearings are only a few more steps away, so it makes sense to renew them on the same job rather than pulling everything apart again later.

Seals and bearings tend to go together. When a seal starts weeping, water can creep along the shaft into the front bearing, and a noisy, rumbling motor often follows. The run capacitor is the quickest of the three to swap. One that has lost capacity makes the motor slow to start, hum or run hot, so fitting a fresh one while the pump is apart takes another likely fault out of the picture.

How to tell you have a Pantera PPP750 (PPP750-2)

Look at the motor label. The model can appear as PPP750, PPP750-2 or Pantera 750. Other Pantera sizes carry their own codes, so go by the number on the label rather than the look of the pump. Before fitting, match the µF printed on your old capacitor and compare the old seal with the new one; our Pantera PPP750 capacitor guide explains how to read the capacitor. If anything does not line up, get in touch with a photo of the label and the old parts. Kits for other Onga pumps are on our Onga service kits page.

Before you order

Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.

Questions

What's in the Onga Pantera PPP750 service kit?

A 3/4″ mechanical seal that replaces Onga 700270, a 20 µF 450 VAC run capacitor with flying leads, and a drive-end and fan-end motor bearing pair, all to suit the Pantera PPP750.

Can I buy the Pantera PPP750 seal or capacitor on its own?

Yes. The seal, capacitor and bearing set for the Onga Pantera PPP750 are each sold separately as well.

Does this kit suit an Onga Pantera PPP750-2?

PPP750-2 is one of the model codes listed for the Onga Pantera PPP750, so this kit is listed for it. Still match the µF on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal before fitting.

Is the Pantera PPP750 kit made by Onga?

No. It is an aftermarket kit of CapacitorsNZ parts made to suit the Onga Pantera PPP750. It is not made or endorsed by Onga.

Do I need to change the bearings when I change the seal on a Pantera PPP750?

Not always, but the motor is already apart for the seal, so it is the easiest time to do it. If the PPP750 motor is noisy or the shaft feels rough, change the bearings with the seal.

What if it doesn't fit?

If you're unsure, send us a photo of your old part and the pump's label before ordering.
