The service kit to suit the Onga Pantera PPP1500 has three aftermarket parts: a mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces (replaces Onga 700270 and Astral 75508), a 25 µF (25 uF / 25 MFD) 450 VAC CBB60 run capacitor with core leads, and a matched pair of sealed ball bearings for the motor’s drive end and fan end. It renews the usual wear parts on this single-phase pool pump in one strip-down.
What’s in the Onga Pantera PPP1500 service kit
Each part in the kit is also sold on its own, so if you only need one of them you can buy just that part. The kit costs less than the three bought separately.
- Mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces Onga 700270 and Astral 75508.
- Run capacitor: 25 µF, 450 VAC, CBB60 body with core leads.
- Motor bearing set: two sealed ball bearings, drive end and fan end.
Why change the seal, bearings and capacitor together
On a pool pump that has been running for years, the shaft seal is usually the first part to wear and start to weep. If that leak is left, water creeps along the shaft to the front motor bearing, and before long the motor starts to growl. Changing the seal means splitting the motor from the wet end and taking the impeller off, so the motor is already out and on the bench, which makes it a convenient time to do the bearings too.
The run capacitor is the simplest of the three to change once the power is isolated. Capacitors slowly lose capacity with heat and age, and a weak one makes the motor work harder and start sluggishly. Renewing it during the same service means the PPP1500 goes back together with a new seal, new bearings and a new run capacitor.
Confirm your pump and check the old parts
The pump label should read PPP1500, PPP1500H or Pantera 1500. Once the pump is apart, measure the shaft where the old seal sat and read the µF value printed on the old capacitor; if it is not 25 µF, contact us before fitting anything. The Onga Pantera PPP1500 capacitor guide has more detail on the electrical side. Kits for other models are under Onga service kits, and unused parts can go back under our returns policy.
Before you order
Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.
