The service kit to suit the AstralPool CTX pool pump contains two parts: a mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces (replaces Astral 75508 and Onga 700270) and a 25 µF (25 uF / 25 MFD) 450 VAC CBB60 run capacitor with core leads. There are no bearings in it. Check the µF printed on your old capacitor before ordering, and note the kit costs less than the two parts bought separately.
What’s in the AstralPool CTX service kit
Two parts, matched to the CTX. Each is also sold on its own if you only need one of them.
- Mechanical seal to suit a 3/4″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces Astral 75508 and Onga 700270.
- Run capacitor, 25 µF, 450 VAC, CBB60 motor-run body with core leads.
Why service the CTX seal and capacitor together
Pulling a pool pump apart to get at the seal means isolating the power, unbolting the wet end and taking the impeller off the motor shaft. Once you have gone that far, swapping the run capacitor as well adds only a few minutes, and it means the pump goes back together with both the seal and the capacitor renewed.
Both parts wear with running hours. Water that gets past a worn seal can track along the shaft towards the motor, and a motor that has been working hard on a weak capacitor runs hotter than it should. Doing both while the pump is already isolated and opened up saves coming back for a second job later.
Checking your AstralPool CTX label and old parts
The CTX label may show a size code such as CTX280, CTX400 or CTX560, or the pump may be badged Hurlcon CTX. If your label reads CX180, CX240 or CX280 instead, those pumps have their own listings, such as the AstralPool CX280 service kit. Before fitting, measure the shaft where the old seal sat and read the µF value printed on the old capacitor. The kit capacitor is 25 µF; if your old one shows a different value, contact us before you order so we can sort the right one. Capacitor details for this pump are on the AstralPool CTX capacitor guide, unused parts can go back under our returns policy, and other kits for this brand are listed under AstralPool service kits.
Before you order
Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.
