The service kit to suit the Filtermaster SB30 has two parts: a mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces (replaces Onga 700270 and Astral 75508), and a 35 µF (35 uF / 35 MFD) 450 VAC CBB60 run capacitor with core leads. It covers both wear parts in one job and costs less than buying them separately. Check both old parts against these specs before fitting.
What’s in the Filtermaster SB30 service kit
Each part in this kit is also sold on its own if you only need one of them. Follow the links for the full details of each part.
- Mechanical seal for the Filtermaster SB30: 3/4″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces Onga 700270 and Astral 75508.
- Run capacitor for the Filtermaster SB30: 35 µF, 450 VAC, CBB60 motor-run body with core leads.
Why service the SB30 seal and capacitor together
Getting at the seal means isolating the power, draining the pump and pulling the wet end apart. With the pump already off and isolated, changing the capacitor adds little extra work, and you avoid a second shutdown later.
The two parts wear for different reasons. The seal faces wear with running hours and suffer if the pump runs dry or pumps grit. A run capacitor slowly loses capacitance with heat and age, and a weak one makes the motor slow to get going or run warm. If your SB30 has been leaking and also hesitating at start-up, this kit deals with both in one go.
Checking your old parts before ordering the kit
Read the µF value printed on the side of your old capacitor (it may say µF, uF or MFD) and make sure it reads 35. Then look at the old seal or measure the shaft where the seal sits to confirm it is 3/4″. If either part differs, buy the parts separately in the sizes your pump actually has, or contact us with a photo of the old parts and the pump label. More Filtermaster kits are listed on our Filtermaster service kits page.
Before you order
Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.
