The AstralPool CX240 service kit contains two parts: a mechanical seal for a 3/4″ shaft with carbon / ceramic faces, which replaces Astral 75508 and Onga 700270, and a 20 µF (20 uF / 20 MFD) 450 VAC CBB60 run capacitor with core leads. There are no bearings in this kit. Buying the pair as a kit costs less than ordering the seal and the capacitor separately.
What’s in the AstralPool CX240 service kit
Two wear parts, each matched to the CX240 listing. Both are also sold individually if you only need one of them.
- Mechanical seal to suit a 3/4″ shaft, carbon / ceramic faces, replaces Astral 75508 and Onga 700270.
- Run capacitor, 20 µF, 450 VAC, CBB60 motor-run body with core leads.
Why change the AstralPool CX240 seal and capacitor in one job
Getting at a pump seal means turning off and isolating the power, opening up the wet end and taking the impeller off the motor shaft. The run capacitor is mounted on the motor, so with the power already isolated, swapping it is a small extra job and the pump goes back together with both parts renewed.
Each part fails in its own way. Water that gets past a worn seal can creep along the shaft towards the motor bearings, and a motor running on a weak capacitor starts sluggishly and runs hotter than it should. Having both parts on hand means one isolation and one test run instead of two separate jobs.
Before you order the CX240 kit
Measure the shaft where the old seal sat and read the µF value printed on the old capacitor. The kit capacitor is 20 µF; if yours shows another value, get in touch through our contact page before ordering. The AstralPool CX180 kit and AstralPool CX280 kit are listed with the same seal and the same 20 µF rating, and every other kit for this brand is on the AstralPool service kits page. Unused parts can go back under our returns policy.
Before you order
Check the old parts before fitting: match the µF printed on your old capacitor and the size of your old seal.
